Bushnell Medalist Rangefinder Ease of Use
The Bushnell Medalist easily grasps in the hands of most folks. It’s a little smaller than the Pro 1500 and Pro 1600 measuring 1.7 x4.5 x 3.8 inches. It is also lighter than the Bushnell Pro versions at 9 ounces. The optics are placed horizontally before your eyes and can be steadied easily with one hand.
With Multi-Coated Optics the images are clear and crisp when looking through viewfinder. There are two buttons on the top side of the Medalist golf range finder. When seeking a target simply press the power button while looking through the LCD viewfinder. Release the button when a target has been acquired and the LCD will display the range for 30 seconds until it shuts off automatically.
For safety the laser fires a maximum of 10 seconds at a time and then turns off. To fire the eye safe invisible laser simply press the power button again. The Medalist is very simple to use.
Medalist Range Reading Efficacy
Range readings start from 5 – 1000 yards / 5-914 meters. The maximum range for most non-reflective objects is 500 yards / 457 meters while highly reflective targets have a maximum range of 1000 yards / 914 meters. These ranges vary depending on the current conditions of the surrounding environment. For example: Sunset or overcast or rainy weather.
An interesting note is the darker it is the further the maximum range of the golf range finder. If it’s very sunny during golf play the maximum distance is lessened.
Also red is the most reflective color while black is the least reflective. The angle of the target can have an affect as well where the best targets will be perpendicular to the laser.
Medalist Targeting Modes:
Most Medalist Laser Rangefinder users are in agreement that the maximum range to the pin is about 250 yards. Meaning that it becomes increasingly difficult as the range gets further along to receive a measurement from the flag. This is one of the short comings of the Medalist having only a 4X eyepiece limits the ability of this golf range finder while others have 5X – 7X lens.
PinSeeker Mode - the advance PinSeeker technology helps with the limited 4X by focusing on the pin while ignoring objects in the background and therefore acquiring the target more easily.
Scan Mode - automatically scans different targets while slowly panning across the horizon. If you’re unsure of the targets range just slowly pan back and forth until you feel you’ve gotten the right number from the LCD display.

Medalist Golf Range Finder Reviews
Mr. 3Put
“I was really looking forward to using my Medalist PinSeeker. To make the story short it worked very accurately. It picked up all worn out flags/rags from every hole on the course… Of course the par 3′s were a piece of cake. The scan mode was great for dog legs and the traps… I definitely recommend the Medalist Laser Range Finder.” (This review has been paraphrase for singularity. “Best Golf-Related Item I’ve every purchased! After spending some time weighing the pluses and the minuses of Laser Range Finder vs a GPS Range Finder… The PinSeeker mode is fantastic… and needs the user to scan and pan for the flag rather than just point and shoot. Trees and other objects are not an issue because by default the nearest object in PinSeeker mode is selected. A steady hand is not required! The scan mode is for ranges to hazards, bunkers, etc. and basically anything you can see through the viewfinder. The battery lasts forever and of course unlike GPS devices the Medalist laser range finder can easily outlast…” (This review has been paraphrased for singularity.
